Sign System Development
Design Intent Documentation
Kent State University (KSU) had a sign program that they’d been working with for some time, but without a set of standards, signs were often designed and implemented without much rhyme or reason. Oftentimes there would be functional gaps in the available sign types to program facilities. Working closely with the Office of the University Architect, Studio Graphique reviewed their current sign system and made recommendations for standard colors, materials and sizes, and developed new sign types that provided better, more modular directional and directory information.
The deliverable was a comprehensive Sign Standards Manual that can be utilized for consistent implementation and maintenance of the program throughout the entire campus (both interior and exterior applications). This manual expedites sign ordering and ultimately saves the university time, money and headaches.
